FARFETCH Limited has been a global online destination for luxury items from pre-owned to new styles since 2007. On June 8, 2022, FARFETCH launches FARFETCH BEAT which lives on the pulse of fashion with an ad-hoc and unconstrained release schedule that features limited pieces from modern fashion designers of beloved brands.
The first collaborative collection from FARFETCH BEAT comes from the streets of New York City with the iconic Opening Ceremony varsity jacket translated by the younger talent Peter Do. The first of the series of future collaborations live only on the FARFETCH platform and gives its customers access to exclusive luxury products and brands, curated with items that cannot be found anywhere else.
“Opening Ceremony has always been a pioneer in concept retail. We’re excited to be able to bring that approach to online retail with FARFETCH BEAT. For us, Peter Do exemplifies the best in New York fashion today, and we found so much similarity in how our shared Asian heritage informs everything we both create,” mention Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, founders and creative directors of Opening Ceremony.
“The Peter Do team inspires us with their incredible design skill and knowledge. We’re so excited we finally get to collaborate with our friends on this fresh take on our beloved varsity jacket.”
The OC varsity jacket features two fabricated “spacer” materials, a signature of Do’s design motif, one in black and another in white, and a third in upcycled parachute material from Do’s first runway show. The pieces are numbered to reference their limited quantity and include a cardholder hidden in each jacket pocket, delivered in a one-of-a-kind Opening Ceremony x Peter Do cotton mousseline tote bag.
