From humble beginnings in The Bronx, New York, to the global powerhouse that is Sprayground today, BenDavid's journey exemplifies the fusion of innovation and self-expression in the world of fashion. “I was born in The Bronx, New York, and raised by my mother and sisters,” he explains. “They were my first fashion teachers, introducing me to the world of fashion and instilling in me the importance of self-expression and creativity.”
“During my upbringing, I would spend a significant amount of my free time nurturing my creativity. I have always had a strong inclination towards art, as it is an integral part of my identity.” David BenDavid's early exposure to fashion through his mother and sisters laid the foundation for his creative journey. Sprayground emerged from BenDavid's keen observation in the realm of backpacks and items for travel.

“I started Sprayground because I noticed a lack of creativity in backpacks. I felt the need to think outside the box and create something that people would be excited to wear. While I was traveling, I had this boring backpack that broke one day. As I searched for a new bag, I realized that all the bags looked the same.“
Fueled by a desire to create something distinct and exciting, he embarked on a journey to redefine backpack design. “It all began with my first design, ‘Hello My Name Is,’ which became a classic hit. Then, the ‘Money Stacks’ design hit shelves, and the next day, many celebrities were photographed wearing it. This confirmed that the bag has the potential to be an iconic fashion statement piece.”

The breakthrough of iconic designs like "Hello My Name Is" and "Money Stacks," propelled Sprayground into the spotlight as an iconic fashion statement. It was like a whirlwind of emotions that went by so quickly; one blink and you could miss it. It was primarily a rush of excitement and a surreal feeling knowing that my designs were being showcased at such an iconic venue during the most significant week in fashion.
Sprayground marked its 13th anniversary with the launch of its most expansive collection to date. Comprising over 100 never-seen-before bag designs, this milestone collection promises to captivate fashion enthusiasts and turn heads with its unparalleled creativity and innovation. “I am a risk-taker, and I wanted to try something new by breaking into the bag market.,” BenDavid states.

“At the time, [the market] was heavily dominated by mass-produced bags and luxury brands with monogram patterns. I am always on the go and pack my whole life into my backpack, so it made sense to venture into travel fashion first. We have expanded to include apparel, cold weather gear, surfboards, gaming chairs, swimwear, and more. Any opportunity where I can turn the mundane into insane. We also have other fun surprises in the works that I'm excited to share very soon!”
