New York Fashion Week has long been a testing ground for the ways fashion borrows, adapts, and recontextualizes the everyday. At Advisry’s Spring/Summer 2027 presentation, America, Still, HOKA entered that conversation with the Clifton UTL—a silhouette designed to move beyond the running track and into the unpredictable rhythm of city life.

As the exclusive footwear partner of Advisry’s sixth runway show, HOKA presented the newly launched Clifton UTL in Cosmic Grey / Stellar Grey, Cosmic Grey / Cilantro, and Black / Black. But the collaboration extended beyond the standard offering. Designer Keith Herron and HOKA created customized versions of the sneaker using deadstock fabrics from Herron’s studio, giving the footwear a direct material connection to the collection moving down the runway.

The result positioned the Clifton UTL less as a conventional performance shoe and more as part of Advisry’s larger sartorial vocabulary.

Herron’s America, Still examines the present through the perspective of 50 years ago, using the voices and tensions of another era to consider the pressures shaping contemporary America. Framed by James Baldwin’s voice from 1969, the presentation unfolded in three acts—reaction, dignity, and transformation—without attempting to neatly resolve the tension between them.

That sense of movement translated naturally to the footwear.

The Clifton UTL takes the supportive sole associated with HOKA’s Clifton running franchise and places it beneath a more structured, lifestyle-oriented upper. Its exoskeleton construction gives the silhouette a distinctly urban character while retaining the maximum cushioning that has made HOKA a recognizable force in performance footwear.

In practice, it is designed for the realities that exist between destinations: subway platforms, sidewalks, long walks across Manhattan, and the inevitable detour that turns an afternoon into a late night.

The Advisry runway offered another interpretation of that versatility. Customized with materials from Herron’s studio, the Clifton UTL became less about separating performance from fashion and more about showing how the two can occupy the same space. The sneaker functioned as both a practical object and an extension of the collection’s material language.

It is a progression that reflects HOKA’s expanding position within fashion. The brand’s technical foundation remains central, but its lifestyle silhouettes increasingly demonstrate how performance technology can be translated into the visual language of contemporary dressing. Its collaborations have similarly placed cushioning, support, and movement into conversations traditionally dominated by tailoring, luxury, and streetwear.

For Advisry, the partnership reinforces the collection’s interest in American utility without reducing it to nostalgia. The Clifton UTL arrives with the practicality of a shoe built for movement, but its presence on the runway suggests something broader: contemporary utility is no longer confined to technical wardrobes.

Fashion’s relationship with performance has become increasingly fluid. Running shoes have become daily uniforms, technical fabrics have entered tailoring, and functionality itself has become an aesthetic proposition. On the Advisry runway, HOKA’s latest lifestyle silhouette fits comfortably within that evolution.

For a collection concerned with how people react, cope, and transform under pressure, perhaps a shoe designed to keep moving is an appropriate place to begin. The Clifton UTL is now available through HOKA for $155, extending the runway conversation from New York Fashion Week into everyday life.
