Time Management Tips: How To Make A Perfect Schedule
By PAllen Brown
Time management is crucial to success because it can be difficult to get everything done in a day. However, with the right schedule, you'll have more time and less stress. This article will give tips on how to make a perfect schedule that works for your lifestyle. Read on below for some great advice.
Write down your daily tasks
Don't start your day without doing this.
If you don't write down your daily tasks, you'll quickly forget half of the things on your list. Instead of going in blind, jot down everything that needs to get done and then prioritize them in order. By writing them all down, you can stay organized instead of forgetting something important.
Plan out your day and time it accordingly - this includes how long you plan on spending at work or school, when you will eat lunch, when you will take breaks, etc.
Create a to-do list for the week in advance
Along with your daily list, there should be one for the week. If there are some things coming up in the future that you don't want to forget about (like a doctor’s appointment), then it is helpful to write them down somewhere. This will be your weekly schedule. You can get a weekly blank template here to start you off. With this, you'll have a good idea of what your scheduled tasks are and organize them accordingly.
Schedule what you eat
By meal planning, you can cut down on your food costs and you will most likely eat healthier. You won't have to stop at the closest fast-food place because there is nothing at home. It will also keep you away from tempting snacks. Writing your weekly meals out on a calendar or planner is an easy way to stay on track and help you to manage your time.
Create after-school or work schedules
If you have school, be sure to write out your schedule for when you get home and any homework that needs to be done. Also, create a "me time" section where you put in what you plan on doing with yourself so there won't be any surprises. If you work, try sticking to a 9-to-5 schedule and then use the spare time for yourself.
When you have tasks listed out, do them in order of importance. If something has to get done tomorrow, it should be lower than things that need to get done today. When you look and see that everything on your list is super important and needs to get done immediately, you'll learn how to prioritize and use time more efficiently.
Be realistic with what you can do during the day
Most people will brag about being busy every day and getting it all done. However, by the end of the day, you'll find that most of your tasks were pointless or half-finished. If you can't get everything done in a day, don't stress yourself out trying to do so. This is what weekly planners are for. Get the important stuff done first then spend the rest of the time doing what makes you happy.
Don't burn yourself out trying to be perfect. Doing so will only make you unhappy and unmotivated. Sometimes it's good to cut down on some time for leisure activities and allow yourself to relax a little bit. If something important needs to get done, then go ahead and do that first, but keep your overall schedule balanced.
Stick to the schedule
Don't let yourself get distracted by other things that might not be as important.
You've gone through the trouble of making a schedule, now use it. Don't let yourself get distracted when you have things to do, cause it won't turn out well. Use this as motivation to stick to your schedule.
Stay focused
Clear your mind of all distractions so that you can stay on track with what's most important. When you go to do something, make sure that there are no distractions or temptations that will lead you astray from what needs to get done. All that is best done with a clear mind.
Find other ways around obstacles
If you ever get stuck on something and feel like you're spinning your wheels, then find a way around it. Sometimes we try too hard on certain projects or goals which can be stressful and ultimately lead nowhere. Don't beat yourself up about it; just back off from it for a while and come back to it later. Sometimes you just need to take a break for stuff to start coming together.
When you get frustrated and upset over something, take a step back and remember that there are other things that need to be done. However, having the right priorities is really helpful when staying on track with your schedule.
This blog post has given you some of the tips that can help in making a perfect schedule, but there are many more. The best way to get the most out of your time is by using different tools and techniques. Try experimenting with these tips for yourself until you find one or two that work well for you.
