British Fashion Council Unveils Its 2026 NEW WAVE: Creatives, Celebrating 50 Emerging Industry Voices

Fashion’s cultural influence extends well beyond the designers whose collections command the runway. Behind the images, campaigns, casting decisions and visual narratives that shape how audiences experience fashion is a generation of creatives redefining the industry’s creative language. Recognizing the people responsible for that influence, the British Fashion Council (BFC) has unveiled its 2026 NEW WAVE: Creatives, a list of 50 emerging talents contributing to the evolution of global fashion.
Announced on October 21, the annual initiative brings together professionals across an expanding range of disciplines, including photography, art direction, styling, casting, beauty commentary, hair and makeup, nail artistry, sound design, production and cultural commentary. The selection reflects an industry increasingly shaped by collaboration across creative fields, where the people behind the scenes often have as much influence over fashion’s cultural relevance as the designers presenting their work.
The 2026 cohort will be celebrated at The Fashion Awards on November 30 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. More than a recognition of individual achievement, the initiative creates a platform for emerging talent whose perspectives and creative practices contribute to the industry's broader visual and cultural identity.
“Fashion moves forward when new voices and perspectives are heard and given room to grow,” said Laura Weir, chief executive of the British Fashion Council. “NEW WAVE: Creatives celebrates the people shaping our industry, often behind the scenes, and recognises the breadth of talent from across a diverse range of creative disciplines that contribute to fashion’s cultural influence.”
Weir’s remarks underscore the initiative’s central premise: fashion’s future depends on the visibility and development of talent working across the creative ecosystem. As imagery, digital storytelling and cultural commentary continue to influence how fashion is understood and consumed, the individuals shaping those conversations have become integral to the industry's ability to evolve.
Among the creatives recognized this year are photographers Aleks Soroka, Ava Van Osdol, Chessa Subbiondo, Jebi Labembika, Salomé Gomis-Trezise, Tre Koch and Wendy Huynh; fashion stylists Chino Castilla, Milena Aggaba, Natasha Ribas and Seyon Amosu; and creative directors Bevan Agyemang and Jess Canje. The list also recognizes cultural commentators Antonio Padilla, Biz Sherbert, Chani Ra and Shuang Bright, alongside beauty commentators August, Kicki Yang Zhang and Mei Pang.
Elsewhere, the selection highlights the breadth of specialized talent influencing fashion's image-making process, from casting directors Lina Eldali and Lisa Dymph Megens to nail artists Ema Maeda and Nikki Panic. Hair stylists, makeup artists, producers, a florist and a sound designer round out a cohort that reflects the collaborative nature of contemporary creative production.
The selection process also places peer recognition at its center. Nominations originated with members of the previous NEW WAVE: Creatives cohort, who were invited to recommend their peers. An influential industry panel then determined the final group of recipients for 2026. The panel included photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, stylist and creative director Ib Kamara, designer Simone Rocha, fashion editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, photographer and filmmaker Jordan Hemingway, i-D editor-in-chief Steff Yotka, and designer Tolu Coker, among other established voices across fashion and culture.
That combination of peer nominations and industry expertise positions NEW WAVE: Creatives as more than an awards-season accolade. It is also a mechanism for connecting emerging professionals with new opportunities, encouraging discovery across disciplines and helping brands, publications and creative teams identify talent whose work reflects the industry's changing sensibilities.
The BFC has developed a searchable platform that allows users to explore creative profiles by discipline, country and year. By making the cohort accessible beyond the annual ceremony, the initiative serves as an evolving resource for discovering collaborators and building teams around new ideas and perspectives.
Founded in 1983, the British Fashion Council supports and promotes British fashion internationally through platforms including London Fashion Week and The Fashion Awards. Its charitable arm, the BFC Foundation, supports creative talent through education, industry programmes and opportunities for business growth, reinforcing the organization's broader commitment to developing the next generation of fashion professionals.
As the industry continues to expand its understanding of creative influence, the 2026 NEW WAVE: Creatives offers a portrait of fashion as a collective practice—one built not only on the clothes themselves, but also on the people who cast, photograph, style, produce and interpret them. Their recognition at The Fashion Awards places those contributions in the spotlight while signaling the importance of the voices shaping what fashion will look like, and mean, next.
