Those who have a massive sweet tooth will almost immediately associate chocolate with indulgence and pleasure, which is totally fine, because, at the end of the day, one of the best ways to soothe your mind and body, or relax after a long day, is with a piece of chocolate.

To a lot of people, chocolate is a must, something they consume daily. Now, there’s a common misconception that chocolate is unhealthy because it’s packed with sugar and God knows what. But what is oftentimes overlooked is that it is pretty healthy, too!

In moderation, of course. If you’d like to enter the world of all the benefits that come with this delicious treat, then cast your eyes on the facts below!

It’s A Perfect Blend Of Balance And Enjoyment

Modern wellness definitely isn't about torturing yourself or cutting out every single fun indulgence. For most of us, it’s just about finding that sweet spot between healthy habits and the things that actually bring us joy.

That is exactly where chocolate fits into the picture perfectly. Snacking on a small piece of chocolate can be the ultimate way to wind down during a relaxing evening or a bit of personal downtime. Instead of looking at treats like some massive failure that ruins your healthy streak, people nowadays simply opt for moderation and just mindfully enjoy the moment.

This shift is part of a much bigger, healthier way of looking at wellness. Sure, taking care of yourself means putting nutritious food on your plate and moving your body, but it also means relaxing, hanging out with friends, and letting yourself eat something simply because it tastes absolutely amazing. Chocolate is just an easy way to inject a little bit of pure happiness into an otherwise chaotic day.

Functional Chocolate Products Have Become Insanely Popular!

In recent years, the wellness landscape decided to embrace products that aren’t only healthy, but also very tasty, and chocolate perfectly fits into that story. These days, on the market, you can easily come across products that are infused with ingredients that will renew your energy and relax you. Namely, mushroom chocolate bars in particular have rapidly climbed the popularity charts. So, what exactly are these products?

They are packed with (logically) chocolate and mushrooms, and are perfect for those who generally aren’t very fond of mushrooms. These food items might just change their mind, as far as this goes.

Of course, before you acquire any mushroom chocolate bar, first be sure to check all the ingredients, so you can be certain it is truly healthy.

It’s Great For Your Blood Flow And Blood Pressure

The antioxidants in dark chocolate can give your artery linings a serious boost, causing them to release a helpful gas called nitric oxide (NO). One of nitric oxide’s main superpowers is telling your blood vessels to unwind and widen, which helps bring your blood pressure down.

Because of this, a lot of studies hint that snacking on dark chocolate can give you better circulation and lower your numbers.  But honestly, the science is still a bit all over the place. For example, a 2019 study on women found that eating 85% dark chocolate actually raised their blood pressure a little bit for about two hours right after they ate it.

That said, when they ate that same dark chocolate while feeling super stressed, it actually did the exact opposite and helped lower both their blood pressure and their heart rate. Since scientists are still trading mixed results on this one, we definitely need a lot more data before we fully understand how your favorite sweet treat affects your blood pressure

Your Liver Will Love It, As Well!

Previously mentioned benefits of chocolate on blood pressure come from the fact that it’s high in flavanols, along with the nitrous oxide, which dilates blood vessels. High blood pressure that’s in the veins of the liver is associated with lots of issues that are related to the liver, like chronic liver disease and liver damage.

On a more positive note, many studies have shown that dark chocolate enhances blood flow in the liver, and in the meantime, a couple of studies have been conducted that have tried to determine if dark chocolate can even prevent liver damage.

If it’s proven to be the case, then we assume that chocolate is going to become even more popular! (Like, that’s possible!)

Now that you’ve gotten familiar with all the advantages that come with chocolate consumption, it’s a perfect time to further increase its usage and enjoy this delicious dessert!
