ZEGNA Distills A Century Of Vision Into Fragrance With The MEMORIE Collection
By PAGE Editor
Luxury has always been about more than objects—it is about the stories that shape them. With the launch of MEMORIE Vol. I–VI, ZEGNA expands its narrative universe into fragrance, translating more than a century of heritage into six olfactory chapters rooted in the life and imagination of founder Ermenegildo Zegna.
Unveiled on March 10, 2026, the collection is less a conventional fragrance line and more a sensory memoir. The name MEMORIE, derived from the Italian word for “memories,” signals the intention behind the project: not nostalgia, but lived experience—moments shaped by landscape, craft, and quiet acts of creation.
For a brand founded in the Italian Alps in 1910, memory is inseparable from place. Each fragrance in the six-part series draws inspiration from a specific moment or object in the founder’s life, tracing the arc of a vision that began in the small town of Trivero and ultimately reshaped modern luxury menswear.
Together, the fragrances unfold like chapters in a life story—moving from introspection to exploration, from craft to legacy.
Fragrance As Narrative
The collection was crafted by three of perfumery’s most influential noses—Dominique Ropion, Fabrice Pellegrin, and Quentin Bisch—each interpreting fragments of Zegna’s history through scent.
Vol. I — Il Calamaio opens the story at dawn. Inspired by the founder’s inkwell, the leathery amber composition blends an ink accord with Turkish rose and oud. The result evokes the quiet ritual of ideas forming on paper—an intimate beginning where imagination becomes intention.
Vol. II — Il Lanificio shifts the narrative to the wool mill itself. Vanilla Tahitensis, suede, and sandalwood recreate the distinctive atmosphere of raw fibers meeting machinery—where industrial rhythm transforms material into fabric.
Vol. III — A Trivero captures motion. Lavender, rose damascena, and myrrh evoke the crisp air of the Piedmontese Alps as Zegna departs his hometown, symbolizing the ambition to carry a small mountain enterprise onto the global stage.
Nature takes center stage in Vol. IV — Il Sottobosco, where pink pepper, carrot seeds, and patchouli conjure the scent of forest undergrowth after rain. The fragrance reflects the environment that continues to define the brand’s philosophy: a balance between industry and ecology.
The journey continues with Vol. V — La Panoramica, inspired by the scenic road carved through Oasi Zegna. Pine needles, French lavender, and Haitian vetiver echo the alpine landscape, capturing the founder’s long-term vision—one tree, one road, one decision at a time.
The narrative concludes with Vol. VI — Saga del Piemonte, a woody gourmand composition built around coffee accord, ratafia, and Virginia cedarwood. It reflects the warmth of evening gatherings where stories are shared and heritage is passed forward.
Memory In Motion
To accompany the launch, Zegna introduces a cinematic film starring Mads Mikkelsen and directed by Roman Coppola. Set inside Casa Zegna—the family’s historic residence in Oasi Zegna—the film unfolds as a contemplative journey through six interconnected environments.
A miniature car travels between them, acting as a poetic device representing movement, imagination, and continuity across generations. Rather than relying on dialogue, Coppola’s visual language allows the narrative to emerge through rhythm, atmosphere, and silence.
It’s a fitting approach for a collection built on sensation rather than explanation.
The Design Of Enduring Luxury
Each fragrance is housed in a refined glass bottle featuring soft gradient finishes inspired by the emotional landscape of its corresponding chapter. An ash-wood cap crowned with the Zegna family crest completes the design, reinforcing the house’s connection to natural materials.
In keeping with the brand’s evolving sustainability philosophy, every bottle is refillable. The fragrances retail for $349 for a 100ml bottle, with 150ml refills—available exclusively in Zegna boutiques—priced at $249.
The system reflects a broader shift within luxury: permanence over excess, continuity over novelty.
A Century Of Values, Reinterpreted
For Zegna, MEMORIE is not simply a fragrance launch—it is an extension of a worldview first articulated by Ermenegildo Zegna more than a century ago. His original vision fused entrepreneurship with environmental stewardship, transforming the mountains of northern Italy into what is now known as Oasi Zegna.
The collection channels that same philosophy. Each scent sits between nature and industry, intimacy and ambition—mirroring the dualities that defined the founder’s life.
Available now in select Zegna boutiques and on zegna.com, MEMORIE will roll out globally in phases throughout 2026.
In an era where luxury often moves at the speed of trends, Zegna’s approach feels deliberately different. These fragrances are not designed as fleeting sensations, but as markers of time—small vessels carrying a century of craft, landscape, and imagination forward.
