7 Advantages of Adding CBD Oil to Your Travel Kit

Since cannabidiol (CBD) was discovered in the cannabis plant in the 1940s, medical researchers have consistently recommended the substance for pain relief.

Recent studies suggest that cannabidiol might treat various illnesses, including inflammatory conditions, anxiety disorders, sleep problems, and metabolic diseases, to mention but a few, which explains the growing number of seasoned travelers now adding CBD oil to their travel kit.

But what are some of the benefits of incorporating cannabidiol into your travel routine? That question shall be the focus of this post.

1. CBD oil can treat pain

Pain is one of the most common travel-related concerns, particularly among frequent travelers. Indeed, it’s only logical to experience a degree of pain and discomfort after being on long-haul flights or road trips. Most travel-related pain affects the back, feet, and legs. Pain also happens to be the primary condition that cannabidiol is often recommended for.

CBD oil treats pain by improving the functions of the body’s pain-regulating receptors, which are widespread in the endocannabinoid system.

When you consume CBD before, mid-, or after traveling, the substance enters your body and alters your endocannabinoid receptors’ chemical formation. As such, it becomes easier for your body’s endogenous cannabinoids to bind to these receptors. That intricate mechanism results in the relief of pain and a host of other medical issues.

Numerous studies have investigated CBD’s potential analgesic properties on various diseases whose primary clinical manifestation is pain, including arthritis, endometriosis, fibromyalgia, and multiple sclerosis. In most cases, the findings have been quite positive.

2. CBD oil can attenuate inflammation

Inflammation and pain enjoy a ‘cause-effect’ relationship. And just like pain, inflammation is a common side effect of traveling.

Most travel-related inflammation often results from the exertion of too much strain on tissues, muscles, and joints. The most affected areas usually include those near the body’s major pressure points, such as the legs and abdomen.

CBD oil works against inflammation by interfering with the body’s significant inflammatory messenger activity.

Cannabidiol is also a vasodilator. As such, it enhances blood flow throughout the body, which is useful in mediating inflammation.

3. CBD oil might treat anxiety

Whether you have a chronic mental disorder or not, you’re bound to experience some anxiety while traveling. There could be numerous triggers, including the mere thought of meeting new people and the culture shock that comes with it.

Fortunately, anxiety is another medical condition that you can treat effectively using CBD oil. Cannabidiol treats anxiety by boosting your brain’s sensitivity to ‘happiness’ hormones, including dopamine and serotonin.

However, it’s crucial to note that you can only enjoy the anxiolytic benefits of CBD if you invest in high-quality products such as CBDfx or other legitimate suppliers.

One way to tell that a CBD supplier is credible is to check for online reviews from some previous clients. If possible, only buy your CBD oil from suppliers whose products carry a third-party lab result.

4. CBD oil might boost your sleep

Jet lag is a travel-related sleep disorder that mostly affects people who travel fast across multiple time zones. It results from your body’s inability to adjust to the sudden changes in your sleep-wake cycle.

While jet lag eventually goes away on its own, you can make it disappear faster by using CBD oil for sleep.

CBD oil shortens your sleep latency, which means that you’ll take a considerably shorter duration to fall asleep. And once you fall asleep, cannabidiol enhances sleep duration by shortening rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.

REM sleep refers to the stage during sleep when much of the dreaming takes place. So, shortening REM can mediate travel-related sleep disorders like jet lag. That’s especially true for travelers who experience frequent nightmares, as is often the case with people with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Finally, CBD oil can boost your sleep quality and duration by treating REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD)- a sleep disorder where people act out their dreams.

5. CBD oil can boost your adventure

If you’re a frequent traveler, consider conducting the following experiment sometime. Go on top of a cliff and observe the sweeping landscape below. Repeat this experiment several times without cannabis, then compare the experience when you use cannabis.

You’ll realize that the experience feels more surreal whenever you use cannabis. That’s because cannabis brings out the spirit of adventure in every traveler.

To make the most of CBD oil’s adventure-enhancing properties, insist on products containing significant THC levels. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis, famous for its euphoria-inducing abilities.

Researchers have since established that a person in a state of euphoria tends to enjoy more extensively the activities that naturally make humans happy. This means that you’ll find mountain climbing, snowboarding, bungee jumping, and other exciting activities even more scintillating.

6. CBD oil can help to manage nausea

Did you know that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has since approved a cannabis-based drug to treat nausea among cancer patients with chemotherapy-induced nausea?

It’s worth noting that THC contributes to most of the nausea-relieving properties of cannabis. So, this is another area you should consider CBD products that are significantly high in THC levels.

According to research, THC relieves nausea by impacting the brain’s central reward pathways. One of the results of these interactions is an increase in appetite. To enjoy the nausea-relieving benefits of CBD oil, always go for products labeled ‘full-spectrum’ while shunning those labeled ‘isolates’ and ‘broad-spectrum.’

Full-spectrum CBD products refer to products that feature CBD, THC, and a host of other cannabinoids. On the other hand, CBD isolates contain CBD as the only active compound, while broad-spectrum products are formulated with various compounds except for THC.

7. CBD oil is an all-natural product

Besides all the benefits mentioned above, it’s worth noting that CBD oil is an all-natural compound. As such, the oil can relieve various travel-related issues without inducing any severe side effects.

Many CBD users who report side effects cite only mild cases of dry mouth, fatigue, and drowsiness. And in most cases, these side effects last considerably shorter than those induced by conventional medications.

You’re unlikely to suffer any side effects from consuming CBD oil if you moderate your doses. If you’re a new user, always begin with the smallest dose ever, then gradually work your way up.

There are numerous benefits to reap from adding CBD oil to your travel kit. However, remember that you can only enjoy CBD's benefits like all cannabis-based products if you consume the substance in moderation.
