Vlisco Introduces Vlisco VIBE, Bringing 180 Years of Textile Heritage Into Everyday Dressing
By PAGE Editor
For nearly two centuries, Vlisco has built its legacy on printed textiles that carry meaning beyond the material itself. Now, the heritage textile house is looking to the everyday wardrobe with Vlisco VIBE, a new collection that reframes its signature prints for contemporary dressing, without losing sight of the craftsmanship and cultural expression that have defined the brand since 1846.
Launched October 13, 2026, Vlisco VIBE marks a shift in how the brand approaches its fabrics, extending their place beyond celebrations and ceremonial dressing into the routines of modern life. Designed to move between professional settings, casual occasions, and evening engagements, the collection positions print as an adaptable wardrobe staple rather than something reserved for a particular moment.
The inaugural release introduces four new designs across 18 colorways, crafted in fine cotton satin for breathability, movement, and an elegant drape. Available in two- and four-yard cuts, the fabrics offer flexibility for creating contemporary separates and complete looks, allowing wearers to approach personal style through their own interpretation of pattern, silhouette, and construction.
To bring that proposition into focus, Vlisco has partnered with Nigerian designer Lisa Folawiyo on an exclusive five-piece capsule. Known for her distinctive approach to printed textiles and considered tailoring, Folawiyo brings a contemporary design sensibility to the collection, demonstrating how Vlisco's recognizable patterns can be translated into modern silhouettes. Sewing patterns for each of her five designs will accompany the fabrics, encouraging customers to recreate the looks, adapt the details, and make the finished garments their own.
The inclusion of sewing patterns is particularly notable. Rather than presenting finished fashion as the only point of entry, Vlisco VIBE invites customers to participate in the creative process, placing fabric selection, construction, and individual interpretation at the center of the experience. It is an approach that celebrates the enduring relationship between textile design and the people who transform it into clothing.
“Vlisco has always invited people to express themselves, especially during life’s most meaningful moments,” says Marlou van Engelen, creative director of Vlisco. “With Vlisco VIBE, we’re bringing that same creative spirit into everyday moments. Rooted in 180 years of craftsmanship, the collection reimagines our heritage through a fresh, contemporary lens, with versatile prints that feel relevant and easy to make your own.”
Founded in the Netherlands in 1846, Vlisco has a complex history shaped by cultural exchange between Europe and Africa. Its distinctive textiles have become deeply embedded in the visual and material culture of West and Central Africa, where generations of women have embraced, named, and reinterpreted the prints as expressions of identity, community, and occasion. Their significance extends beyond aesthetics, reflecting the relationships between clothing, personal history, and collective memory.
That legacy gives Vlisco VIBE a proposition beyond versatility alone. Making heritage prints more accessible to everyday dressing means allowing them to exist in new contexts, styled alongside existing wardrobe pieces and adapted to individual tastes. The collection does not abandon the significance of Vlisco's designs; it considers how that significance can continue to evolve through contemporary use.
With Vlisco VIBE, the brand brings its 180-year history into closer conversation with the rhythms of modern life. The result is an invitation to wear print more often, approach fabric as a creative starting point, and carry a tradition of textile craftsmanship forward through personal expression.
Vlisco VIBE is available beginning October 13, 2026, through Vlisco's online store and retail locations. Discover the collection at vlisco.com/pages/vibe.
