President Obama Exclusive Nike Basketball Shoe Is To Sell On Sotheby’s For $25,000

Retiring from the political arena with the prowess of beloved athletes and entertainers, The 44th President of The United States, Barack Obama, has subsequent growth in popularity. He has commanded a presence in Politics and pop culture, deeming him as simply, "cool."
The swagger Obama possesses, growing up playing J.V. and varsity basketball for his high school team, Hawaii’s Punahou School, winning the 1979 state championship, has arguably translated to his success and charm as a public figure.
While the Commander-in-Chief, Obama was gifted by Nike with a pair of the customized Hyperdunks in 2009, further appealing to his cultural reach. While it is not the only pair, Nike has been holding on to the only other confirmed sample of the shoe in their archive.
This archival pair of size 12.5 Hyperdunks will go on sale on Sotheby's new “Buy Now” e-commerce platform for $25,000.
Obama famously played basketball during his presidency, even receiving injuries during a pick-up game. His love for the game is unmatched among presidents, including his association with hip-hop culture, and pop culture trends.
Ironically, The 44th President of The United States has a considerable friendship with rapper JayZ. A guest at the 2013 Presidential inauguration, JayZ has also name-dropped the former leader of the free world in the past. This reason could be why Sotheby’s has scheduled to release the "Obama" Hyperdunk on Friday, February 12, 2021, at 4:44 pm.
Unfortunately, this sample of the Hyperdunks was not worn or owned by Barack Obama himself, but he does own the original sample pair. In a high top silhouette, the white, blue, and red sneakers adorn patriotic symbols throughout the design features. A Presidential seal is visible on the tongue of each shoe of the custom “President Obama Player Exclusive Nike Hyperdunk'' as the most prominent detail.
